1. God’s Purpose For All His Children

Whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:28-29,31

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God... unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Until Christ be formed in you.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father Who is in Heaven is Perfect.

That ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

2. Our Lord Jesus Christ Is The Source Of Every Virtue Of Character

By Him were all things created... He is before all things, and by Him all things consist... It pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell.
Colossians 1:13-19

His Son, Whom He hath appointed Heir of all things, by Whom... He made the worlds... upholding all things by the Word of His Power... by Himself purged our sins... Unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever.
Hebrews 1:2-3,8-12

In Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 2:9

Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
John 1:17,18 (John 14:6)

The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.
John 1:14,18 (John 3:16-18; 1 John 4:9-10,14; 2 Peter 1:15-16)

The love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39 (Romans 5:8; 1 John 3:5,8; 1 John 4:11,19)

By this we have known the love of God, because He laid down His life for us.

3. Christ’s Perfect Character Is Our Example To Be Followed

[His purpose]
I must be about My Father’s business.
Luke 2:49

I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father hath taught Me... The Father hath not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him

Even Christ pleased not Himself.
Romans 15:3 (Matthew 26:38-44)

All bear Him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth.
Luke 4:22

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth... Who He was reviled, reviled not again... but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously.

This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Ye call Me Master and Lord... so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet... I have given you an example.

Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps.

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his Master, and the servant as his Lord.

4. God’s Provision For Perfecting Our Character Is The Grace Of Jesus Christ

Unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Ephesians 4:7 (Ephesians 3:7; 1 Corinthians 12:7)

And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace.
John 1:16 (2 Corinthians 8:9)

The grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:14 (Romans 5:1-2)

Be not thou... ashamed of the testimony of our Lord... Who hath saved us... according to His Own purpose and grace...given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.
2 Timothy 1:8-9 (Ephesians 3:11; Ephesians 1:11)

He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:9

Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always... may abound to every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:8

Much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.

I commend you to God, and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them who are sanctified.

5. Grace Of Lord Jesus Christ Is Given To Us By His Holy Spirit In Answer To Prayer

When He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth... He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine, and shall shew it unto you.
John 16:13-14

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace... gentleness, goodness, faith.
Galatians 5:22-23,25 (Romans 6:22; Romans 15:13; James 3:17-18)

For it is God Who worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure... That ye may be blameless... the sons of God...in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.
Philippians 2:13,15-16 (Philippians 1:19-21; Hebrews 13:20-21)

[Thanking God for fellow believers God loves]
Because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the Truth.

For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also might be sanctified through the Truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also who shall believe on Me through their word that they may be one, even as We are One.
